Job Brief
As an Air Traffic Control Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of aircraft in the airspace and at airports. You will be responsible for controlling air traffic within designated sectors, coordinating flight paths, and authorizing takeoffs and landings in accordance with established procedures and regulations. Responsibilities
- Monitor and direct aircraft movements on the ground and in the airspace using radar and other communication systems.
- Authorize and manage takeoffs and landings, ensuring compliance with federal regulations and safety procedures.
- Coordinate with pilots, ground crew, and other air traffic control personnel to facilitate efficient flight operations.
- Provide clear and concise instructions to pilots, including altitude adjustments, routing changes, and emergency procedures.
- Analyze and respond to changing weather conditions and air traffic patterns to maintain safety and efficiency.
- Document flight operations and maintain accurate records in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with industry standards and technologies.
Requirements
- Valid Air Traffic Control certification from a recognized authority.
- Proven experience in air traffic control or a related aviation role.
- Strong understanding of air traffic control procedures, regulations, and safety protocols.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and effectively.
- Ability to work in high-pressure environments and make quick, informed decisions.
- Proficiency in using air traffic control software and radar systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
