Job Brief

The Hospice Director is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating comprehensive medical and health services within hospice care settings. This leadership role requires a deep understanding of palliative care principles, regulatory compliance, and effective management of clinical staff. The ideal candidate will possess a combination of clinical expertise, strong leadership skills, and experience in healthcare administration, ensuring the delivery of high-quality end-of-life care to patients and support for their families.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of hospice services, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to enhance patient care and operational efficiency.
  • Lead and manage a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, including nurses, social workers, and chaplains.
  • Coordinate patient care plans and facilitate interdisciplinary team meetings to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Monitor and evaluate the quality of care provided, implementing improvements as necessary.
  • Manage budgeting and financial performance, including reimbursement processes and resource allocation.
  • Provide education and training to staff on hospice care practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Act as a liaison between patients, families, and healthcare providers, addressing concerns and ensuring satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Current RN license or relevant healthcare certification.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in healthcare management, with at least 2 years in hospice or palliative care.
  • Strong knowledge of hospice regulations, billing practices, and quality assurance standards.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and healthcare management software.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.
  • Commitment to providing compassionate care to patients and families.
