Job Brief
The Radiology Transcriptionist plays a crucial role in the healthcare system by accurately transcribing medical reports recorded by physicians and healthcare practitioners. Responsibilities
- Transcribe medical reports from various healthcare providers, including radiologists, accurately and efficiently.
- Utilize electronic devices to record and transcribe office visits, emergency room encounters, diagnostic imaging studies, and surgical operations.
- Edit and format dictated reports, ensuring clarity and adherence to medical documentation standards.
- Translate medical abbreviations and terminology into fully understandable language in final reports.
- Return completed reports in printed or electronic format for review, signature, or correction by healthcare professionals.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations while handling sensitive patient information.
- Stay updated on industry standards and best practices in radiology transcription and medical documentation.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Radiology Transcriptionist or in a similar medical transcription role.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, especially in radiology and diagnostic imaging.
- Proficiency in using transcription software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Excellent typing skills with high accuracy and speed in transcription.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Certification in medical transcription (preferred) or relevant experience in healthcare documentation.
