Job Brief
The Woodyard Crane Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of mechanical boom and cable or tower and cable equipment to lift and move heavy materials, machines, or products in various directions within a woodyard environment. Responsibilities
- Operate crane equipment to safely lift, move, and position materials, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
- Conduct pre-operational inspections and routine maintenance on cranes to ensure optimal performance.
- Collaborate with team members to coordinate material handling operations effectively.
- Monitor load weights and adjust crane operations to maintain safety and prevent equipment failure.
- Maintain accurate records of crane operations, including load logs and maintenance activities.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols to minimize workplace hazards.
- Respond to emergency situations promptly while ensuring the safety of personnel and equipment.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a crane operator, preferably in a woodyard or industrial setting.
- Valid crane operator certification and relevant safety training.
- Strong understanding of crane operations, load calculations, and rigging techniques.
- Ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, and safety regulations.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a focus on safety and efficiency.
- Physical stamina and strength to handle the demands of the role.
